Cause of Hair Loss

Are you curious to know the reason of hair loss?  What made Prince Willaim (I love his ex-title) look like a 40 year man at only 26 ?

Below are popular reasons of hair loss, hair fall and baldness.
Hair Disorders  Hereditary thinning or baldness. (androgenetic alopecia)  This is the most common cause of hair loss of men and women in the United States. A receding hairline and hair loss on top of the scalp for men is found in men more than women.
Alopecia areata. This autoimmune disease causes hair loss in patches on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. It can be found in people of all ages.
Cicatricial (scarring) alopecia. A rare condition that destroys hair follicles. (Oh my God!)
Hormones and Stress
Physical stress. Significant hair loss can occur after a major surgery, high fever, severe infection, or even the flu.
Hormones fluctuate.
Hair loss is natural during menopause and after childbirth due to falling estrogen levels.
Disease Underlying medical condition Thyroid disease and anemia caused by an iron deficiency.
Ringworm of the scalp. This infection, which is most common in children, can cause balding and scaling on the scalp.
Some cancer treatments. Radiation therapy and some chemotherapeutic medications cause side effect and hair loss.
Trichotillomania. People often feel compelled to pull out their eyelashes, eyebrows, nose hairs, and other hairs on their bodies… that must be hurt!
Poor Diet Weight loss. It can happen 3 to 6 months after losing weight more than 15 pounds.
Eating disorder. Anorexia or bulimia can lead to hair loss.
Vitamin A excess. Getting too much vitamin A can lead to hair loss.
Iron intake too low. Consuming too little iron can lead to hair loss.
Protein intake too low. Hair will be in resting phase when the body does not get enough protein.
Medication Prescription medications that can cause hair loss such as:
  • Blood thinners
  • High-dose vitamin A
  • Birth control pills. Some women taking or discontinuing birth control pills experience hair loss. This usually occurs in women with an inherited tendency toward hair thinning. Medicines that treat arthritis, depression, gout, heart problems, and high blood pressure
Hair Care Practices
  • Hair cosmetics. Frequent bleaching, regular or improper use of dyes, gels, relaxers, and sprays can cause hair breakage.
  • Blow dryers, flat irons. The high heat from a blow dryer can boil the water in the hair shaft leaving the hair brittle and prone to breakage.
  • Certain hairstyles. A type of hair loss known as traction alopecia can occur after years of wearing hair in a style that pulls on the hair such as a ponytail, cornrows, or braids.
  • Too much or vigorous grooming. Too much shampooing, combing, or brushing (100 strokes or more a day), rubbing wet hair with a towel to dry. it or combing wet hair can cause hair breakage
  • Hairpins, clips, and rubber bands. These can break hair when you use them tightly.
